You can even use this on your watermelon lights and flush mount kits! If you’re worried about a potential water leak, Silicone may be the solution. Just apply to one of the surfaces to be bonded. Your watermelon adapter kits allow water to leak into the back of your cab. And you’re right, if you install it as-is, it will leak.
The solution is clear silicone waterproof sealant. This high-quality sealant is specifically designed to keep water out, ensuring your cab stays dry no matter the weather.
Start with a thick line of silicone around the bottom edge of the flange mount bezel. Snap the watermelon steel adapter plate into place and add another layer of silicone to the bottom ensuring the whole setup is waterproof.
Don’t worry too much if you make a mistake, this silicone dries clear.
We also suggest lining the edges of your flush mount kit to ensure that water does not leak from the center of the light.
Depending on the silicone you purchase it may take up to 24 hours for the silicone to properly dry and cure.
If there is a place you are worried about water leaking, silicone is probably the right solution.
As you can see, now that we’ve added silicone there’s no water getting through those cracks.
